Directed by Nettie Graulich, the sewing project at MCV’s vocational school has proven to be one of MCV’s most successful programs. In addition to training orphans to become skilled tailors so that they can then earn an income in their village, the program has created revenue for MCV by selling clothing, bags and other materials produced by the paid tailors on staff. In addition to training orphans, providing the tailors on staff with a reliable income, and generating money for MCV, the program has also provided the MCV fieldwork team with school uniforms that can be distributed to orphans in need in the villages.
The program has successfully managed to sustain financial sustainability over the last few years by contracting with businesses and schools to produce large orders of uniforms. Learn more by linking to Nettie Graulich’s newsletters below.
